The price was good, but the rooms smelled overwhelmingly of cleaning supplies, there was no ice machine, the beds were very uncomfortable and hard to sleep on, and I didn’t feel safe. The lobby was unwelcoming, with no coffee or breakfast, and it was hard to get around.

Where do I begin? The elevator was dirty, as were the floors and walls inside it; exposed wires and no digital floor indicators made it hard to know where it stopped. When I reached my room I was greeted by roaches. The place smelled like burnt fish, and the A/C was frozen over—turning it off caused it to thaw into the room. Water covered the floor in the morning, pushing out more roaches. The beds felt like concrete. The location made me uneasy all night, worried about my wife’s and my safety, especially after the desk clerk told me to make sure everything was out of my car and secured in my room. I don’t know why anyone would come to Council Bluff, Iowa, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, no matter the price.
