“Zero komfortu”
Getting to the center of Prague from the hotel was easy: first a bus, then the metro. The stop is close to the hotel and the transfer is simple, taking about 30 minutes for the whole trip to the center. The restaurant in the hotel is okay. The most important thing I didn’t know when booking is that standard rooms are entered from outside and are located around a public terrace where guests sit, just about a meter from the window. The room description says garden view, but in reality it’s just a few potted plants on the terrace. During our stay the view was mostly just half of Germany with people smoking from morning until night, so the window had to stay closed all the time. The rooms are under a roof and face the terrace, which you can see in the picture. Because the roof covers the rooms, it’s always very dark inside, meaning the lights have to stay on all the time to see anything, and you have to cover the curtains so you’re not visible from the terrace. If people on the terrace smoke, you must keep the windows closed because smoke drifts into every room. In my opinion, standard rooms need a renovation; the walls might not need a huge overhaul, but the whole furniture is old, uncomfortable, and pointless. The room feels claustrophobic due to the low ceiling, and you hit your head on the lamp. Nothing can be done about that, and I don’t understand why a 3‑4 person sofa, a desk with a chair, an armchair, a dresser, and a freestanding fridge are in such a small room. It makes moving around almost impossible. Why does the room description even mention a comfortable socket by the bed? To reach it we had to move the bed. The reading lamp above the bed barely hung on the wall and couldn’t be used for reading. The bed is pressed against the wall, and the sofa blocks access to the bed for someone sleeping on the wall side. I haven’t slept on such an uncomfortable bed in a long time. Every movement required huge effort, and every movement was creaky.
