The room itself was clean, just as shown in the pictures. The host/owner was very aggressive and rude, and at one point threatened us, saying he “could make our stay miserable.” We received no pre‑arrival communication about check‑in; he complained that we didn’t follow protocol. The setup was apparently this: the entrance door has a lock with a code, and when you arrive you’re supposed to ring the bell and wait for the host to show up and tell you what to do—yet this was not communicated to us. The host was not at the property when we arrived, but other guests were entering, so we entered with them, but no one was inside to receive us. We called the host to ask about our room; he responded condescendingly and wasn’t helpful. He showed up 30 minutes to an hour later, already aggressive. Then he asked us to pay for the night; I said, “I believe we paid, let me check my account.” He immediately accused us of trying to avoid payment and stay for free. We asked him to calm down, saying “this is probably a misunderstanding,” but he ended up threatening us. The whole description of this property is stupid. You supposedly “pay at the property” but it’s “non‑refundable.” What the hell is non‑refundable if I’m not paying while booking the place? Do you assume I would travel to the property but cancel my booking there before paying? Well, that makes sense because that’s exactly what I wanted to do after the host threatened us. However, apparently he gets to receive that money from the card on file anyway, even if we choose to leave/cancel. I called/texted and told them about my experience, but they weren’t helpful either. They suggested I call the accommodation (aka the guy who threatened us) for help. Besides, the pool was dirty and not well‑maintained, not like in the pictures at all (see figures).
