Hotel Bella Peschiera

The room had a sharp smell, definitely from the fresh linens coming out of the laundry. We had to open all the windows to let the air change and get rid of the strong plastic odor. In the morning, breakfast was really poor: everything ran out quickly, no waiter came to refill the buffet, and it was only 8:30.

The location is great – a short drive gets you to Gardaland and other theme parks, and it’s right in the center of Peschiera sul Garda, a lovely town. It’s also a good base for trips to places like Sirmione. The building is pretty and tidy, and the reception staff are very kind and helpful. Our room was small but had everything needed. The highlight was the balcony view of Lake Garda, which was beautiful. The downside was the breakfast, which was problematic for me because I’m gluten‑free. I had informed the hotel of my requirement and they assured me that gluten‑free options were available. At breakfast, I went to the corner with a sign that said “gluten‑free” and found the food next to it was packaged but contained gluten. I asked the staff and they took a pre‑opened gluten‑free loaf from a shelf on the table. That was the only gluten‑free item; everything else was unsuitable for me. There were juices, coffee, milk, yogurt, and sweet items (jam, honey, spreadable cream) and savory items (eggs, etc.) but no other carbohydrate choices, except the pre‑opened white bread. A gluten‑free guest who comes prepared would have appreciated a small range of additional options, like a few crackers or single‑serving biscuits. For non‑gluten‑free guests, there are sandwiches, sweets, and pies available.
