“No es recomendable.”
The area specifically feels like a stop in a Peruvian suburb. I even saw it look dangerous at dawn, near a market. The service was terrible and, above all, the communication was awful. I entered the hotel with two large suitcases. As a frequent traveler with a job that doesn’t allow fixed dates, I arrived around 3:00 am to rest. I intended to stay in the same room the next day, but I was never told that the room had been booked for someone else. Later, the lady told me another person had already taken the room and that I had to leave. She even offered me another room on the fourth floor, but with two large suitcases, I didn’t find it reasonable to be told to simply lift them up to the fourth floor. In this situation, I left the key at reception to look for another option, since I usually stay at other hotels in Juliaca and am a frequent traveler. Unfortunately, Booking doesn’t always show all available options, and in this case I ended up at a place that didn’t meet my expectations. Another point that caught my attention is that in the room there is a notice saying that certain devices that require charging cannot be used. I work with a laptop for business, and I think such restrictions should be clearly stated before booking. Also, the area where the hotel is located didn’t seem suitable. I’m from Lima and usually assess quickly the areas where I stay. The place is near a market and I found the surroundings quite dusty and neglected. When I travel for work to Arequipa, Cusco, or other regions, I normally look for hotels in more comfortable and safer areas. What definitely struck me as very tasteless was that the lady told me another person was paying more for the room. If there is a different rate, I think it should simply be published with the corresponding price.
