“Desapontada”

The shuttle arrived right on time and the drivers were friendly, giving us tips on where to explore, while the room was tidy and clean and the location was convenient. Unfortunately, the lift was already out of order when we got there, and by the evening it was still under maintenance, forcing me to lug my many suitcases down the stairs; the restaurant claimed to serve lunch and dinner separately, yet the menu items weren’t available and I was offered what seemed to be only a lunch dish at dinner prices, which felt excessive, so we ended up eating elsewhere; breakfast was rather weak and some staff members were openly arguing in front of guests, which was quite unpleasant.

The main highlight of Ipê is the human quality of the staff, who give exceptional treatment to guests. Meals are excellent, good value; dishes are well plated, tasty and warm. Bathrooms need renovation; they are old, and although clean, they look continuously used. Rooms are cramped; I stayed with an elderly relative and the wheelchair was not removed from the car during the stay because there was no space to move inside the room. That is a specific issue for me and does not disqualify them. They took care to inform me at booking that the hotel had accessibility problems.
