“Incredible location, amazing staff, great price”

The staff were incredible and very accommodating—Francis and Jean both helped us and were exceptional hosts. Every time an employee passed me, they smiled, asked how I was doing, and offered assistance. The room was very large, the AC was very cold, and we were the first guests to use their new towels! The rooms were very clean and perfect for the price. We only stayed one night, but we would have stayed longer if our itinerary allowed. The bar and restaurant were closed during our stay, but that wasn’t a big issue; we walked to a nearby spot for dinner and they let us use their chiller to keep our drinks cold. Jean and Francis explained that there is a new owner and most of the team is new, with both of them having been there for only a month. Major renovations were underway with a different structure, but the noise wasn’t a problem. They mentioned work from 8‑5 daily, but it didn’t bother us at all. It seems they’re making huge improvements, so I’d recommend this budget‑friendly spot in a good location.

“Cheap, but dirty”

The location was good, dorms were cheap, and bike rentals were inexpensive. I was the only one in the dorm for two nights, perhaps due to earlier reviews. I’m usually fine with basic accommodation, but there was no water in the female dorm because of road work, and they didn’t inform me at check‑in. I was directed to a shower several flights down and across the property that was disgusting—bar soap on the ground, sandy floors and counters, and it clearly hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. The full trash in the dorm bathroom hadn’t been emptied for an unknown time, which is gross, especially since you don’t flush toilet paper. Rat feces were also on the balcony near the dorm, which was pretty unacceptable.

I stayed in the shared women’s room for two weeks, everything was fine until one evening at 9 pm when I went to shower and saw three men in my room. The receptionist, Ganine, came in furious, asking where I was and accusing me of looking for them, even though she never sent me a message or called. She told me the room was male, even though it had always been occupied by women and no one had informed me. I told her I didn’t know, and she called me a liar, saying she’d told me to change rooms, which I refused because she only mentioned that the other room had a better shower that sometimes ran out of water. She spoke badly to the men in the room, as if I had a problem with them, and wouldn’t even guide me to a new room, claiming I already knew where it was. I felt misunderstood, accused of lying, and made to feel guilty. I told her it wasn’t my fault, but she said she didn’t have time to talk. The vibe was terrible. Everything was fine until this happened; I had already paid for the night, stayed two more nights, and left without returning. The showers are awful. The other staff are friendly. The situation was bad, and I was also denied speaking to the manager. The service was very poor.

The place is cheap, about AU$20 per night for two adults with a private bathroom, and it’s a short walk to San Juan’s center. Free Wi‑Fi works well, and renting a motorbike is easy and competitively priced. However, the setup is disorganised and a bit untidy. Bookings go to the owner who isn’t on site, so we weren’t expecting us and didn’t receive the emails I sent for the two‑bedroom. There’s only a pedestal fan, no air‑con, but it does the job. The shower is cold, and the bathroom could use a bit more attention.

I had a fantastic stay! The place was clean, comfy, and exactly as described. The vibe was very relaxed, and everything was well maintained. The host was super friendly and helpful, always checking that everything was fine. The location was spot‑on, giving easy access to everything we needed. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, stress‑free spot. 👍 You get what you pay for, and the price is unbeatable. They also have a clean pool, a bar, and a pool table. The only downside is the kitchen isn’t that clean.
