The caretaker’s treats were a pleasant surprise, but the bungalow was infested with mold, causing nonstop sneezing that forced me to sleep in my car.

If you’re okay with pitching a tent in the mountains, this place is fine; other families were having fun with fireworks and barbecues, and the caretaker was kind and helpful. However, anyone who is neurotic or wants a clean place to sleep will find it difficult.

There was no staff to check me in, so this is a scam. I arrived and nobody was there; I asked for help and received none—just nonsense.

The staff were conscientious and greeted me with corn, dried sweet potato, freshly baked mochi, and tomatoes; on the way out they gave me bamboo shoots and karin jam. The bungalow itself is quite old, and the bed, room cleanliness, and screen doors could be cleaner to attract more guests; the toilet was clean, and I didn’t use the bath.

It was very quiet and the facilities were the best among all the campsites I’ve used. The washroom had a water closet with a hot shower, and the tap provided hot water—very convenient. There was a washing machine, and the bath was an outdoor hot spring that was free. The cute cats welcomed me, which warmed my heart. Though reviews mentioned a mold smell, I slept comfortably with no issues. I rented a room with a fridge and brought plenty of ingredients, which was very helpful. Firewood, charcoal, and fireworks were plentiful, and many other food items and supplies were sold, so I never forgot anything. The owner also provided free vegetables and fruit, which was a pleasant surprise; the miso served with cucumber was delicious. The only downside was that email inquiries seemed to be ignored, but phone calls were handled properly. The owner is elderly, so that might explain it. The private outdoor bath is limited to one group for 30 minutes, so you must fill out the reservation sheet immediately upon arrival; the adjacent shower room is available if it’s free.
