We paid almost nothing for five nights in Berlin and expected a terrible stay, but for a dad‑and‑son trip it turned out better than expected. Berlin is a party city, so I didn’t want to share a room with eight other guys and lose sleep; this place was convenient for a tight budget. I worried the other guests might be sketchy because of the hostel vibe, but they were all nice. The room was clean, though not well insulated, which is typical for a modular setup; the heating worked fine but the room got a bit damp. The bed was too soft, even for a hostel. One night a sketchy guy in the room across from us caused a bit of a fight. It wasn’t a big deal for us, but it gave the feeling of being alone and vulnerable in a little cabin with no staff at night. You could always shout outside or call the police, but nobody wants to do that while on vacation. The shower and bathroom weren’t especially dirty, but a deep clean would help. In short, if you want a cheap stay and are up for some adventure, this is the place.
