A very good place; it’s a renovated institution, but for a stay it’s pleasant and practical, just don’t expect modern hotel standards.

I booked the cheapest room in the main building, which has shared showers. The staff were very kind, the breakfast was exceptionally good and varied. The front yard has a good vibe and two trampolines. It’s close to the centre with a church on the opposite side. Street parking is available in front of the building. If you’re driving, Trolltunga is 20 minutes away. The room had a faucet, which is a plus, but otherwise it was very basic for the price, and the beds were low quality and uncomfortable.

Dinner and breakfast were very tasty and lovingly prepared. The team was very attentive and nothing was missing. Thank you for the superb service. We highly recommend this location.

I was initially disappointed because the hotel felt more like a youth hostel than a mid‑range place, especially given the price we paid, but the homemade dinner from the host was surprisingly delicious. The next morning we had a candid discussion with the host about various issues, and he explained the house’s history with such clarity and understanding that we were deeply impressed. He was very accommodating to all our concerns and went out of his way to help us afterward. We enjoyed another outstanding dinner from him and left the next day feeling reconciled and grateful for that unique encounter. The experience is worth seeing for yourself, as perspectives and reviews can vary widely; despite the early criticisms, we felt very comfortable in the end and would return if we ever find ourselves back in that beautiful glacier region.
