Sandman Hotel & Suites London Downtown

The rooms were newly renovated and clean, but the front desk staff were rude and not accommodating.

“Not the best”

I liked that some things were new at this hotel and the security kept the parking lots safe for the most part. A few issues: the Sandman website says breakfast starts at 6 am, but it actually opened at 6:30 am, which was a huge inconvenience for many guests. The amount of drug use near the hotel was unreal, and at 3 am there were three drug users in the back parking lot with knives and other sharp weapons who proceeded to carve a tree on the property with a hatchet (check for yourself). It’s also not very wheelchair‑friendly; my husband walks with two canes and couldn’t navigate the hotel, and the rooms with two beds didn’t have an accessible shower.

The value is good, but there’s no check‑in until 4 pm unless you pay a big extra. I arrived at 1:30 pm and was hit with an unexplained eco charge that I’m not sure is necessary. The renovated room and beds have too small mattresses, so the iron sticks out 6 inches and is a tripping hazard, though the hotel says they’re being fixed.

The location is great and the place is very clean, but the bed was in a separate room from the air conditioner, so it was hot in the bedroom.

“Would stay at a Sandman hotel again. Would recommended to others”

The room stayed clean, very quiet, and spacious. What’s the point in charging for parking? Most guests need to drive to get there.
