The Juhe is very central; within minutes you can walk to Rothenburg’s center and visit many museums. A city‑musketier and night‑watcher evening walk is recommended. The ambience fits the town perfectly, you feel comfortable, and the breakfast and dinner are generous and good. We were able to relax and enjoy the days. I missed a hot drink at dinner; many youth hostels offer hot tea at that time.

The property is so close to the hub of everything in the historic part of town, which is why most people come. The hostel itself is a lovely old building, the number of games and puzzles available is great and can keep anyone entertained if it rains or if you need a quiet time. Even the stairs are wide and easy to climb. Nothing to dislike really, though a lift would be great for older visitors, even just for suitcases.

“DJH ist einfach eine gute Idee”

There is a wide selection at breakfast, the staff are very friendly, and the house itself is really great; we were able to park our bicycles in the house without any trouble.

“Hoher Preis für nostalgisches Camp-Feeling”

For history buffs, this DJH is spot on; the main building is a 16th‑century windmill, while our room comes from the 17th century, all surrounded by a wild‑romantic forest. The location is great and the staff were friendly. But it feels like an old‑school youth hostel: the furnishings are Spartan, the rooms are tiny, and the breakfast menu is minimal. You have to make your own beds and towels cost extra. Wi‑Fi never worked. Non‑members of the DJH association are forced to pay to join. Everything is fine if you book a youth hostel and expect modest rates, but at €100 per night we were disappointed and annoyed.

“Solid hostel option, nice free breakfast”

The spot is solid, close to Plonein, and the free breakfast offers good value. The large dining area is the only shared space, with outlets for working, and the rooms sit on the upper floors. The staff were friendly and handed me a shower room. It felt quiet in mid‑September. Lockers in the basement let you stash luggage for a €2 coin deposit. The only gripe: I heard that Wi‑Fi only worked on the ground‑floor dining area. Mine worked sporadically on the top floor, so better connectivity would be welcome.
