“No compassion”

The location and room were good, but the room booked for my son made him violently ill during the night, so I rushed him to a doctor; we asked the front desk for a two‑hour extension so we could take him away, but instead of a pro‑rated fee we were charged the full night’s rate. Two years earlier, when a storm hit Cape Town and the pass over Franschhoek closed, I called to postpone my booking by two days until the road reopened, but the hotel refused and I had to pay full price again; on both occasions the staff showed no willingness to help, claiming it was out of season and that they wouldn’t incur a loss, which felt greedy and lacking in compassion.
