Large rooms with a small terrace overlooking the sea, a very nice garden, built‑in air conditioning, and free parking. The only issue is that you can hear everything from the other rooms.

Located on La Gomera's hilltop, the Parador de La Gomera offers stunning views of San Sebastián de la Gomera and Tenerife. The hotel features a tropical garden, outdoor pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and sun loungers for soaking up the sun. Guests can stroll through the gardens, explore the natural reserve, or relax in the spacious, naturally lit interior with a mix of Castilian and Elizabethan decor.

The hotel’s location really appealed to us, but the place felt a bit run‑down in spots and the bathroom had a musty, damp smell, with the bath towels also smelling strongly of smoke. The staff didn't seem very motivated. We waited almost 50 minutes for a club sandwich one evening. Breakfast repeatedly missed items: once yogurt, another time butter, and every time we asked for explanations we got excuses. We used to love staying at Parador de La Gomera before the pandemic and were very satisfied with the hotel then, so it’s disappointing that it has clearly declined over the years. Based on our recent experience, we can’t recommend the hotel.

Although purpose‑built and relatively modern, the Parador has been styled as a traditional building and has done this very well. The garden is lovely, as is the pool area. The rooms are quiet with expansive sea views. Food in the restaurant is generally good. Only the room interior let it down a bit. The room was in severe need of refurbishment: a socket protruded from the wall with exposed wires, and the desk/furniture were badly scratched and worn. It’s not what you expect at this price point, and the socket was dangerous; I wouldn’t have wanted a child in that room.

The location perched on a rock above San Sebastian de la Gomera’s harbor is fantastic, and the garden is beautiful and well maintained. Walking to the city center takes about 10–15 minutes down and back up; on the return trip the uphill stretch on the road is a bit longer. The property itself is gorgeous.

The old Castello offered large, nice rooms and a big pool with a dreamy harbor view, and the overall property was quite spacious. However, the breakfast buffet was a let‑down: the selection was thin, with only a few slices of sausage, ham, and some cheese that was sliced and dried. The fruit was oddly presented, a peeled banana placed in a glass, and there were only two jam varieties; the uncooled Cava was flat. I’m used to other Paradores and was very disappointed; breakfast there is always a celebration. The highlight was three capsule coffee machines, but only one worked properly because the others either lacked water or the capsule holder wasn’t emptied, leading to lines for a single cup. For a four‑star hotel, that’s unprofessional and gives off a camp‑ground vibe. The buffet’s location also needs reconsideration: the hallway was too narrow, so guests with tables in front were constantly disturbed by others moving through. On the second day, my room wasn’t cleaned until 4 pm, forcing me to take a walk. The property itself is beautiful but gives a neglected impression, and I never saw a gardener.
