This place was perfect for me: central, quiet location near the port, very kind and attentive staff, spotless cleanliness, complimentary tea and coffee, and a free bicycle to explore Imabari; the futon bed was very comfortable too. If you’re after a modern hotel experience, this may not be the place for you, but if you enjoy Showa‑era charm, Komecho Ryōkan offers excellent value. Nothing was wrong; everything was good.

The staff were very friendly, but the Wi‑Fi was oddly encrypted with WEP and then left open, which was a bit annoying.

The service was polite, but the bath and toilet shared a room so it felt cramped, and the key system on the front desk made the room feel impersonal.
