“Disappointing Stay – Outdated Rooms & Terrible Climate Control”
I stayed with my family for two nights while visiting Virginia Tech, about a 35‑minute drive from campus. Check‑in went smoothly, but the hotel clearly shows its age. The room smelled musty, typical of older properties, even though the AC was blasting and the window was slightly open. The bedding was clean, but the room itself felt outdated. The main problem was the HVAC: the AC unit was as loud as a tractor, the thermostat barely worked, and when it turned on it cooled the room to a freezing temperature before shutting off. It then failed to sense when the room warmed, delaying the next cycle until you were already sweating, so you ended up constantly freezing and sweating with each cycle. The bathroom plumbing was also frustrating—the bathtub and sink had permanent stoppers that only block the drain during a shower, leaving you standing in pooled wastewater. I would not recommend this hotel and definitely won't stay here again.
