I stayed for a short period and it was great – a clean, family‑run hotel with a very good dinner restaurant. The breakfast buffet offered a lovely selection, and the small wellness area was inviting, modern, and spotless. On the downside, our room and parts of the older building were dated and not to our taste, though many areas had been renovated and the newer sections are consistently modern and attractive.

The location and service were solid, and the accommodation was well maintained. A few minor issues: the tea bag wasn’t replaced daily, the indoor temperature felt a bit warm during breakfast, there were no Dutch or English TV channels, and we couldn’t pick a room with air‑conditioning because we were traveling with a dog.

Everything was superb at this hotel – the breakfast was excellent, the staff were very helpful, laundry could be done quickly when needed, the pool was very pleasant, the room was comfortable, and the restaurant was also very good.

We keep coming back to Hotel Ochsen for the outstanding food (and cakes) whenever we’re in the North Black Forest. Much has been modernised, there’s a full PV system on the roof, car‑charging stations, and a swimming pool. No shortcomings.
