The staff were sweet and friendly, making our honeymoon truly excellent! We booked two 50‑minute onsen sessions, which were clean and romantic. Breakfast offered a choice between Japanese and Western styles, and we chose the Japanese option. The location is remote, away from tourists, yet still on the Hakone loop. Before check‑in, they sent us transportation instructions by bus and ropeway, which was helpful! We had an early start getting to the pirate ship since we weren’t coming from Gora or Hakone Yumoto, giving us the chance to see Mt. Fuji in the morning before the clouds moved in. Beds were cozy with plenty of space, and the public showers were a nice plus after a hot, sweaty day.

The staff’s service was good, and we liked that the play area had no time limits. However, the facilities were bad: the TV couldn’t be used, the room smelled of mold and damp, and there were damp bugs. The Japanese breakfast rice had a hard center and wasn’t tasty; the Western breakfast had cold, soggy bread, and the bacon was burnt. The corn soup tasted like diluted instant. The private open‑air bath’s lock was broken; when we told staff, they said the next guest wouldn’t be there so no one would come if we used the key, so we entered without locking it.

Even without knowing Japanese, the staff used a translation app or called someone who could understand a bit, which was good. The room looked smaller than in photos, which made me uneasy about security, and it was dark and looked unsanitary. The bath changing area was a corner of the tub area with a pipe rack, and you had to go outside to use the bath, which was disappointing. The food portions were small but very expensive; the menu only offered pasta, pizza, and Indian curry, and the Japanese food was just oden. At 1700 yen for a single‑person portion sold at a supermarket, it was too pricey. It feels like a ryokan aimed at foreigners.

What I liked was the amount of privacy, but the bath could only be used once and after getting cold I was left with just a shower, and despite being advertised as a hot spring there were no mineral qualities at all, which felt very dubious; the TV never worked and I chose this place for the first time only to discover I couldn’t watch anything, even though nearby hotels at the same price let guests use the pool freely and watch TV without any signal issues, and the claim that you could watch TV from a parked car turned out to be a complete lie.
