The estate is gorgeous and well kept, but the reception feels minimalistic; there’s no welcome tray or kettle in the room, only a plastic water bottle and cardboard plates, which doesn’t justify the €170 rate.

The setting is stunning, a château right in the middle of nowhere, and the guest rooms in the annex are comfortable with a great bed and a quiet night; the shower in the roomy bathroom suits my 1.89 m height, breakfast was decent, and parking is ample. However, the place seems geared toward weddings and seminars, giving it a slightly institutional vibe with minor issues like a broken light, a carpet that blocks the door to my room, and knives at breakfast that are as dull as a 5‑cent coin; for dinner you have to drive a few minutes to nearby villages.

The surroundings, cleanliness, and interaction with the owner were all excellent.

The château’s charm shines through, restored yet still retaining its soul.

The site looks beautiful and the facilities are good, but half of the château was closed when we arrived at the end of September; we stayed in one of the side buildings shown in the site photo. It appears to function mainly as an event venue and spa, and because we were there at the end of the holiday season it was mostly empty except for two other couples. If you’re after a private, quiet, romantic setting, this is perfect, but don’t expect full hotel service—only the receptionist is on site. The pool and jacuzzi were fine, the garden and rear terrace are accessible, but the terrace itself isn’t reachable from the château; to get a drink on the terrace you must order it at reception, and make sure the glasses are clean. There’s no food on site beyond breakfast, which also has to be ordered at reception; we didn’t try it. Reception offers a list of local restaurants. A kettle can be requested, though there was no milk, only tea bags if you ask.
