Pangarh Lake Retreat

I was disappointed by everything except the location. The building feels like it’s on its last legs, with no attention to detail. The common areas were in a state of disrepair and filthy. We were the only guests there. Breakfast was billed per slice of bread, and every cup of filtered coffee (not espresso) was charged separately—unheard of! When I asked about the bill, they threatened to detain me and even blocked the gate, preventing the driver from leaving. Stay away and don’t recommend it.

The lake view. Whilst it has some features, most of the description is a lie. Key omissions at the property include pool, yoga, sports/games, massage, welcome drink, happy hour, bathrobes, coffee lounge etc. There was no guest WiFi and our phones had no reception. I was informed of it's luxury and it was described as a spa and wellness centre. It is actually a campsite undergoing refurbishment and repair (even the owner used this description during a phone call at check out). It currently lacks a main chef and the food was terrible (all bone and no meat in the curry, limited mediocre breakfast) Our wooden chalet had bare building board as the shower base and balcony floor, holes in the walls were covered over with masking tape and the approach decking was in a dangerous condition. Two windows were blanked with sheet metal. The access consists of miles of poor road and rough track to the property. The property requires a 50% advance payment via visa. We mistakenly assumed that we could pay the remainder in the same way. With a night rate of 9688 rupees, at check out, we were offered a 340rupee discount. The property later agreed to a discount of 2000 rupees (this only was agreed as we had insufficient cash with us and the management recognised the deficiencies in the property). Despite this, we still consider it overpriced

I was drawn to this resort for its secluded location, and it delivered on that promise - it's the perfect spot to unplug and unwind. However, the ongoing construction was a major distraction, and the property itself could use a refresh to match its serene surroundings. While it's not cheap, I think the resort has potential, but for now, it's a bit of a mixed bag.

Pangarh's hidden gem by the lake is a must-visit for anyone looking to unwind. The resort's serene surroundings and picturesque views are simply breathtaking. The staff here are incredibly warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The food is another highlight – every meal was a treat, with flavors that will leave you craving for more. However, getting to this paradise is a bit of a challenge, with the access roads needing some serious TLC.
