It was a bed for the night. The room could have been cleaner, with a lot of dust near the door. The bed was small. If two people booked, why leave only one biscuit?

The Lodge at Solent, situated between Southampton and Portsmouth, features a bar, on-site dining, and free WiFi. We used the hotel as a stopover the night before heading to Southampton to pick up our cruise ship. The room was large, the bed very comfy, and the bathroom facilities were very good. The next morning we didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel but took a short walk to a retail park where there were several places to eat. It was then a short drive onto Southampton. Excellent value for the money we paid. All good.

The Lodge outshines other budget hotels by a mile (or a kilometre if you’re visiting from Europe). The rooms are well thought‑out. Comfortable bed, decent desk space, excellent shower, nice large bath towels. Good Wi‑Fi. The Lodge adjoins a friendly pub that offers decent food and a good range of beers served by a helpful landlord and friendly staff. Parking is free and secure, with barrier access. The location is also ideal for those traveling to or from the ports of Portsmouth or Southampton. The Lodge is just off the M27, literally a minute or two from the motorway – but quiet! For the price, this place is a great stop‑over.

The room was very clean, the surroundings were beautiful, and we sat in our room watching Blue Tit parents and fledglings in the trees outside our window. Lovely walks surrounded the hotel. Our bed was wonderful and comfy. Thanks for a lovely stay. Nothing was negative about my stay.

The room was very clean and tidy, the shower was great, quiet and comfy, parking is good. No milk on the drinks tray, a broken lamp, don’t bother with adding breakfast – it’s not nice, limited choice, not cooked well, shame really as the room is great overall.
