“Lovely stopover by lake Mývatn.”
It’s family‑run, the dogs are friendly, and the breakfast is excellent with plenty of homemade produce. The location is very peaceful, just across from the lake, which made for a great early‑morning hike.

The hotel sits nicely near the pseudo craters and the breakfast is solid, but the shower water pressure was weak, and the staff didn’t communicate clearly about the shared kitchen facilities and the basic accommodation during check‑in.

There’s a big balcony that’s great for watching the aurora at night and has a nice vibe. Inside the room there’s a puzzle—missing many pieces, but still fun to play when it rains outside. The staff are very good, answering any questions patiently. The water pressure is very low, so it feels cold to shower in the chilly weather.

The welcome was very friendly, the common area is large, pleasant, and warm. The location is perfect for viewing the aurora borealis, and the buffet breakfast features fresh farm products. Nothing to complain about.

The staff were great and the bathrooms were clean, and the view of the Aurora was phenomenal, but the pillows were horrible—lumpy and flat. The sheets felt very scratchy and uncomfortable. There were only two toilets, and they were often full. The room felt stuffy; opening the window made it too cold, so you’d need to open it just halfway.
