“Legitimate review”

The location was great, with easy access to the beach, restaurants and shops, and I could walk along the shore to many beach restaurants. It was very quiet—no bar or traffic noise—so I slept well. The bed was very comfortable, towels and sheets were clean, and the room was cleaned daily if requested, with no complaints about hygiene. The staff kept the grounds, pool and overall area clean. The reception offered a very competitive exchange rate. The Deluxe rooms and pool were fantastic, a sunny spot that was ideal if you rent a scooter to explore the island. Maenam is quiet but not too far from the livelier areas. The hotel had no dining options, but a few minutes away were plenty of restaurants. I found nothing to dislike.

“Das schlechteste Hotel der Reise”

I was utterly disappointed with this hotel, the worst place we stayed on our entire trip. The only positives were the beachfront location and the fast Wi‑Fi. We had booked seven nights but left after two because the room “Die Strandfront” was unacceptable. One room had a strong, unpleasant odor in the bathroom, clearly coming from the shower drain. Both rooms’ air‑conditioners were ineffective; even after several hours at 16 °C, the rooms barely cooled. The second room was heavily worn, the beds were extremely hard, making restful sleep impossible, and the towels were sometimes dirty. We reported all issues immediately at reception and asked to end our stay early. Other rooms were offered, but the staff gave conflicting information: first we were told a change could only happen the next day, then at checkout we were told a new room could be available the same day. The handling of the bad drain smell was especially disappointing. We were told the problem was fixed, yet housekeeping cleaned the wrong room. At checkout, they claimed the drain didn’t smell and that the odor came from outside, ignoring our note that the wrong room had been serviced. We also couldn’t reach a satisfactory resolution for the refund of the unused nights; only a 50 % refund was offered.

“Zeer fijne locatie, zeker om daarna door te reizen naar Koh Tao of Phangan”

The spot is great—right on the beach and just a few minutes from enough restaurants, shops, and a 7‑11. It’s also close to the ferry for the next day’s trip to Koh Tao or Koh Phangan, and our request for rooms near each other was handled immediately. The rooms are spacious but very basic, which matches the price. There is no bar at the hotel, but you can buy cold drinks at reception, which we knew beforehand so it didn’t surprise us.
