“Lovely staff but unacceptable issues with accessing facilities”
The staff were absolutely amazing—no complaints there. The coffee from the front‑desk café was great. The hotel looked very stylish and there were plenty of comfy spots to sit. The pool area (once you can find a seat—keep in mind it’s very small and busy) was comfortable and offered a lovely view over Florence and the surrounding hills. However, we ran into a few problems. First, upon arrival we were told that the pool and rooftop bar would be closed for the entire next day because of a private wedding, with no prior warning, even though those were the main reasons we chose this hotel, so we were frustrated. The front desk staff were helpful and tried to arrange free breakfast, which management denied, but they did give us a bottle of wine. Two nights later, signs appeared again stating that the rooftop bar and pool would be closed from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. for filming. Even though we were staying there and had expressed our frustration at not being able to use the pool, we were not informed that another night would be interrupted and that we would lose access to the facilities we paid for. In total, half of our nights we couldn’t use the pool or bar. On the filming night, the hotel’s lower level was packed with film crew, equipment, etc., and half the elevators were out of service. The hotel’s elevators are limited, so you often wait a long time to reach your room. Finally, the beds were terribly uncomfortable; I was shocked at how hard they were. I wouldn’t stay here again. I did enjoy parts of my stay, and the location is decent—it’s not right in the center but close to the train station. I just don’t think the customer service at management level is acceptable, and I can’t see how they justify offering a pool and rooftop bar if you can’t use them for 50 % of your stay.
