Hotel Lion Sofia

We were given the room under the green roof, which was very large and good. It’s a 10‑minute walk to the center, perfect for spending a day in the beautiful city of Sofia.

The location is great—right next to the metro, tram, and bus stops, and just a 10‑minute walk to the center and Vitosha boulevard. Breakfast is in a nice spot in the same building, with a choice from the card; the portions are sufficient, the flavors are Bulgarian, and there’s a small drink option (coffee, tea, or freshly squeezed juice). Wi‑Fi works well and there’s a wide selection of TV channels. The receptionist was friendly. The hotel also has shops nearby, and across the roundabout there’s a bakery and a restaurant. Overall, the hotel is fine. The bed is not very comfortable, and there’s an unpleasant smell in the bathroom—though it can be tolerated. A small investment in a bathroom scent could solve that issue.

A solid three‑star hotel. The breakfast served in the adjacent café was adequate, even though we ordered from the menu list.

Super zentrale Lage und trotzdem ruhiges Zimmer, geräumig, sauber. Personal unfreundlich, komplizierte Regelung für das Frühstück ohne Rücksicht auf die Gäste - es erschien mir weniger als Service ein Frühstück und die Zimmer an zu bieten, sondern vielmehr, als sei man gezwungen worden ein Hotel zu betreiben und habe eigentlich überhaupt keine Lust dazu

“Bad”

Not much to say positively. It was terribly smelly—like sewage—and the carpets and curtains were dirty and stained. The overall feeling was very dirty and disgusting, as if you didn’t want to touch anything. You couldn’t stay in the room without the window open, but there was a lot of noise at night, so there was no good option.
