“More appearance than substance - highly disappointing”
The view from room 311 was beautiful. We also enjoyed relaxing by the swimming pool. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were spacious. The nearby Pelican Lodge, which we visited for half a day, is highly recommended: The staff were exceptionally friendly, the food was excellent, and the entire experience was wonderful. We arrived completely exhausted, but were still given a lengthy briefing, required to sign rules regarding the pool and bathtub, and asked to pay immediately upon arrival. At the restaurant, no prices are listed for the individual meals, and the selection of dishes is very limited. After waiting for more than an hour, the second attempt at preparing two sirloin steaks medium was also unsuccessful. After the first attempt, we were told that the order had supposedly been mixed up with the order of other guests which was clearly a bad excuse. When the second attempt also failed and the steaks were again served more than well done and extremely tough, the staff started arguing with us instead of simply acknowledging the problem. They then offered to bring another steak to our room. By that point, it was already 10 p.m., and after such a long wait, we were simply tired and wanted to go to sleep. The steaks were practically inedible, and the whole experience was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, all the staff we encountered during our stay were extremely unfriendly and appeared highly incompetent. For instance, this morning it took them 20 minutes to enable credit card payment because the waitress was unable to operate the card payment terminal. There were also several issues with the room: the balcony door could not be locked, the bathtub was dirty (see picture), the provided shampoo bottle had clearly already been used and was only half full, and the fridge did not work. At breakfast, all the tables were marked as reserved, which made us feel very unwelcome and, frankly, discriminated against as guests (see picture). When booking accommodation in this price category, you expect a completely different level of service, cleanliness, and professionalism. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is simply not justified
