I found the price‑value ratio completely off; the room was tiny and basic, like a hostel, with a small bathroom and everything in dark wood, yet it was expensive. The staff barely spoke English, making it hard to ask about tours. Walking into town without a car means a long uphill trek.

“Tutto perfetto”

This place has a super convenient parking spot and it's close to the center, just a short walk up a steep road. The room was spacious and the breakfast was decent. Overall, it's a great option if you're looking for a simple place to stay.

“Nos sorprendió”

This hotel does the job, with big and comfy rooms and bathrooms, plus a nice porch and garden area where you can chill out. The owner/manager is really friendly, which is a nice change of pace for Costa Rica. The only downside is that it's a bit of a trek to get there, especially if you don't have a car - the road up is steep and rough, and you have to walk a bit on a dirt path. The breakfast selection is a bit limited, but it's okay. Still, it's a great place to stay.

The staff here are really friendly, which makes up for the pretty tough hike to get to the lodge. If you're up for a bit of a climb, it's worth it - the people make it nice.

“Goed verblijf en zeker aan te raden, maar hou rekening met flinke wandelingen”

The breakfast here is alright, not super extensive, but the staff are really nice and welcoming. The location's a bit of a walk from the village and activities, but it's not a deal-breaker.
