“Cold and dark. Best for sleep all day.”
The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially Noy; the bed was consistently cold and dark, making it nice for sleeping, and the common area was spacious. Nothing else to note.

The beds were clean, the shower had hot water, and the staff were kind and helpful. Most of the people here are visa‑runers from Thailand—old men who sit in the common area smoking cigarettes in the same spot, literally not moving for days in the same clothes, creating a weird atmosphere for a “youth hostel.” None of the dorm doors have a key, so anyone can just walk in; lockers are too small to fit even a 20 L backpack; the dorms are very stuffy. The visa‑runners are animals who won’t close the door after going out, so everyone sleeping inside gets the fresh smell of tobacco smoke and the loud noise from the street. I left after 2 nights when I had booked 4, and the atmosphere was just really weird.

The location is fine, but the place is a mess; everyone smokes in an open area, so you can’t sit outside, and the hostel has more than 40 beds but only 4 bathrooms, making them stink.

The area was very clean, customer support was helpful, they assisted with currency exchange from Thai Baht to Kip, and the staff were friendly. Overall I was impressed; it’s a shared space but there’s a high level of respect for each other through dormitory rules and available space for phone calls, smoking for those who smoke, among other things. Thank you, Venn Hostel. Sincerely appreciated, Dan Mayanja. If they could provide all meals with a cost attached it would be much better; otherwise everything is okay and the meal is just one breakfast.

The rooms were clean and in good condition, but the staff were not very friendly and the location was not very central.
