Maliba River Lodge, situated within Tsehlanyane National Park, offers self-catering chalets with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and fully-equipped kitchens. Chalets feature open-plan lounges, dining areas, and balconies with river views. Guests can dine at the on-site restaurant or spa, which offers massages. The lodge also features a Kids’s Club and is located near hiking and horse riding trails in northern Lesotho, 300 km from Liphofang Caves and 350 km from Katse Dam.

I loved the river lodge’s location. We could hear the river—so peaceful and tranquil. The hikes were breathtaking, with the rock pools as the highlight. The spa was amazing. Montseng was incredibly talented. One of the best spa treatments I’ve ever had. The wood was a bit wet, so we struggled to start a fire, but that’s not a big complaint. They give one complimentary bag of wood, which is a plus.

The house is a four‑bedroom place, so there’s plenty of space, and overall it looked fine. The main bedroom’s ensuite bathroom could use a bit of TLC.

The design of each home was nice and spacious; I liked the wooden floors upstairs. My family also praised the many seating options, both inside and outside on both balconies. I appreciated how the beds were arranged, the blankets, and the electric blanket. The hike and the relaxed nature of the lodge were enjoyable, and the views were amazing—hearing the stream flow outside our window felt magical. However, the upstairs balcony lacked a privacy screen, so looking out of the window almost revealed the neighboring house because the windows were untinted; we had to keep our curtains closed during the day, which was inconvenient. A large mold spot and dampness on the bathroom ceiling, plus mold in the shower, were noticeable. Replacing the tight latches on the doors with keys would prevent skin scratches. Brighter lights and possibly an LED light above the dressing table would be welcome.

The stay was fantastic with the best staff! The activities and guide Feko were incredible. Highly recommend.
