The spot and the accommodation with a gorgeous room next to the garden were great. Food was delicious, prepared by the housewife, and the owner supplied a beer with tasty chips. Nothing negative at all.
“Highly recommended for travellers who want to get to know SriLanka better.”
Villa Kubura is a gem. The owners built and designed it themselves with meticulous detail. The garden is beautifully landscaped and everything is impeccably maintained. They welcomed us warmly, and the cooking class—arguably the best Sri Lankan curry we had on the whole trip—was a highlight. We felt completely at home and they attended to our needs. Everything was great, nothing to complain about.
We can absolutely recommend this great accommodation! We spent three nights at Villa Kubura. After the noise and chaos of the cities, we found paradise and peace here. The place is in the green between rice fields, about a 10‑minute tuk‑tuk ride from Hikkaduwa. The estate is huge, beautifully planted, and well kept. The house, or rather the palace, is lovingly detailed and stylishly designed. The rooms are very spacious; from the large balcony you get a wonderful view of the garden and landscape. In the garden there’s a pool with loungers where you can relax well. Everything is clean and tidy. The most important thing to mention, however, are the hosts: the couple Sudath and Dammy and two staff members provide the best service we’ve experienced so far in this country. They’re super friendly and helpful. We also had a late checkout because our flight was in the evening. On two evenings we booked dinner, which was vegetarian on our request. The breakfast was also very tasty. Book this place if you want to unwind and experience rural Sri Lanka! Thanks for everything 😊
“Home warm and beautiful atmosphere in this villa! Very recommend to stay here 🫶”
We absolutely loved staying here! It’s by far the best option in the area. The property is huge, featuring a pool, a garden full of flowers and birds, and a quiet, pleasant setting. The hosts feel like family, the breakfast and occasional sweets during the day are amazing and make the stay feel like home. The rooms are spacious and decorated with nice details.
“Waanzinnig uitzicht, zeer comfortabele kamers en geweldige mensen!”
It’s truly a beautiful place! The house is stylishly furnished with an eye for detail. The rooms are huge, with a good bed and again beautifully decorated. A nice extra touch is a fruit bowl with fresh local fruit ready for you, plus herbal shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. Every room has its own balcony or veranda overlooking the fantastic garden with birds and squirrels, and the rice fields beyond the property. It’s a lovely slice of privacy with a stunning view—what more could you want? Good to know there are only four rooms in total, so you get plenty of quiet because there aren’t many other guests. Breakfast every morning is a party, cooked by Sudath’s wife. Each time we got something different from local to Western cuisine. Our favorites were the egg hoppers with caramelized onions and the vegetable curry with roti. We also ate once in the evening and had the best shrimp curry in Sri Lanka. So definitely come back for a meal and be pampered. Sudath is a great host. He gives you all the attention you want and lets you go your own way when you wish. From a cup of coffee or tea on the balcony to start the day calmly, to a refreshing homemade Lassie while sunbathing at the pool. Also Pranath (hope I spelled his name right) is a star! He helped with the scooter we rented through them and brought a lovely cup of tea in the mornings. Finally, his adorable dog Kiki stole our hearts. By far one of the best accommodations in Sri Lanka! We stayed an extra night because of it.
