“I had no idea hostels could be so nice”
I was blown away by how lovely this place was; I never imagined hostels could be like this! The staff went above and beyond, super friendly and helpful, creating a communal vibe that made meeting people easy. The kitchen is well stocked with a huge fridge that has space for your own food and a “free food” shelf, and there’s always cold water. Laundry is available for a fee, and there’s a drawer of extra toiletries and sunscreen for guests to leave behind. They lead a sunset walk every evening, which is beautiful and a great way to bring everyone together; people usually head out for dinner afterward. The pancake breakfast is indeed amazing, as other reviews say. I’m still amazed at how clean everything was and there are so many bathrooms—don’t skip the one on the roof, it’s basically an outdoor shower and a lovely experience. A few hammocks up there are very comfy and a great spot to enjoy some quiet time. The beds were comfortable enough, even though I normally struggle sleeping in a dorm. There’s a small shelf in the bunk with a light and outlet to charge things, and the curtains work well, giving a good sense of privacy. Highly recommend; it really changed how I view hostels. The pillow was a bit lackluster and the beds make some noise when you move around, but that’s to be expected, I think.
“Personnel sympathique ,"comme à la maison"”
The old building has a charming feel, and the staff were incredibly friendly, doing everything to make us comfortable and enjoy our stay. They provide linens and offer a free Ginja tasting every evening to help travelers bond. The hostel spans three floors without an elevator, and there can be a faint sewer smell in the old town area.
Very friendly workers, always ready to help, simple and professional. The beds are comfortable, lockers available. Towels also for the beach available. From 09:30 pancakes are getting served. Good location and there was nothing to complain. Thank you guys!
“Une super équipe bienveillante attentionnée aux petits soins pour nous accueillir, des locaux bien pensés et aménagés to”
Everything. Nothing.
“This is the closest I’ve been to heaven”
If there’s one place on Earth you must visit before you die, it’s probably this hostel. As a regular backpacker, I’ve never been welcomed to a hostel the way I was at Casa de Madalena. Pancakes, sunset watching as a group, cosy rest on the rooftops… this place has it all! I already know I’ll be back, and I keep recommending it to anyone looking for a social, lively, and comfortable hostel in Faro.
