Maldron Hotel Merrion Road

The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety and good coffee, and even though the hotel is next to a road the rooms are well sound‑proofed. The beds are large and comfy, and we were able to leave our luggage until we left for the airport. It’s about an 8‑minute walk to a train station that takes you to Dublin in 15 minutes. However, there was a bit of noise at the room entrance, and the wardrobe space is limited for two people.

The new hotel near Blackrock is nice, clean, and comfortable. The room was modern and well kept, making the stay very pleasant. Parking is extra, but it lets you come and go as often as you like during your stay, which is very handy if you’re driving.

The location is good for exploring Dublin. Breakfast was decent, though the selection stayed the same for all five nights. The evening restaurant was pretty good, but the wine bottles were very pricey. The room was cleaned regularly, yet one day after a long outing the room door was left open.

I liked the location near the Booterstown DART stop, even though it was a bit of a walk. The beds were comfy and the rooms felt fresh. The front desk staff seemed a little disinterested and not very friendly. Breakfast was basic and didn’t live up to a 4‑star standard; the scrambled eggs were average, looked artificial, and weren’t freshly made. For non‑British or Irish guests, there was no instruction on how to open the window in the room—a strange mechanism that took me a while to figure out and ended up scratching my finger when it suddenly pushed open forcefully; the handle was too close to the window frame. Outside the city centre there isn’t much to do within walking distance—only a pub a few minutes away and an Applegreen grocery store next to the hotel—so be aware of that before you book.

The rooms were clean, nicely decorated, and the beds were very comfortable. The only downside was that it felt a bit expensive.
