“Very acceptable and and value for money”
They stepped in on short notice and I’m really grateful for that; the communication was friendly and the instructions were clear. For an overnight stay it was good value, though I’d tweak a few things for longer stays. The place was clean, which I appreciated, and I loved that a small venue even offered electrical blankets—something I never saw back in Cape Town. The mirror, chair for hair and makeup, and nearby plug were also handy. On the downside, the toilet seat was loose, as were the bathtub handles and the tap. The dishwashing cloth still smelled of braai/meat and wasn’t clean; a drying cloth would have helped. I’d have liked proper wine glasses, but the glasses I got weren’t cleaned well. The blanket felt dirty, and the room freshener spray didn’t smell great. The rug looked unclean, and the single couch was worn out. For an overnight stay it saved us, so thanks again.
“Adequate and clean”
The place was clean and safe, with good water pressure and decent communication. The courtyard and braai were nice. The bathroom door is a concertina style that doesn’t close or seal and sits right next to the kitchenette and sleeping area. There’s only one comfortable chair. The advertised BBQ facilities are there, but it was hard to find a clean spot to eat. There’s no sparp knife or bowl for salad prep, and the kitchen only has a basic plastic bowl for dishes—definitely not for leisure travelers. If you’re on business alone in a rural town or on a sports tour and you’re happy to eat out and spend the evening working or watching TV, this might suit you.
“Pleasant stay Hope Town Guesthouse”
The hotel sits right in the middle of town, and they even give you extra info like nearby restaurants and secure parking. The mattress, however, was super hard and felt hollow in the middle.
The warm blanket was lovely and the shower was great. Unfortunately, the Rooibos and Ceylon teas were mixed in the same container, so each took on the other's flavor and I couldn’t drink either during my visit.
