The location is superb with beautiful scenery, and the staff are very friendly, polite, and proactive; the room is spacious, pleasant, and clean, and the breakfast is a tasty Swedish buffet with a varied menu. The interior is lovely, and being in the middle of the forest makes it a very quiet place that invites relaxation in fresh air. From there, you can drive to many tourist spots or simply stroll through the woods. The animals—Yoyo the dog and Ilie the cat—are a draw for animal lovers. The access road is a forest path, steep, a few kilometers through the woods, requiring a 4x4 or a vehicle with high ground clearance. I wouldn’t say we didn’t like it, just have a few suggestions: better insect screens would help, especially since we stayed during a forest beetle infestation and the screens didn’t seal well, letting insects into the room and making it hard to sleep. A pet-friendly policy would also be nice given the animals present.

The host woman was incredibly kind and attentive throughout, and we loved the restaurant where we dined every night; everything was excellent. The setting is far from everything, surrounded by nature, and it gives off a lot of calm—perfect for disconnecting. The only thing to note is that the approach involves a dirt road; we had no issues, but it’s good to know beforehand.

I could have coffee in my room and the pillows were fine. Breakfast was richer on Sunday. The stench of roaches was quite unpleasant in the room (and on the terrace), hiding behind the AC unit or the wardrobe. As tourists seeking a quiet weekend oasis, we were disappointed to find the floor we stayed on occupied by a group of unruly families with children who showed no respect for other guests. The constant door slamming and parents shouting in the hallway at any hour—worst of all at breakfast when the whole terrace heard about purchases at Stradivarius—was a negative experience. We noticed that this group seemed more familiar with the staff. I hope the manager will adopt an empathetic corporate approach, communicating: “We have received reports from other guests who are trying to rest; please keep the volume down and be careful with the doors,” or “Please accompany the door with your hand.” Small stickers with polite messages on doors or hallways, such as “Please respect the quiet of other guests” or “Close the door gently,” would be useful. The true “business card” of a pension/hotel is a happy client, because real recommendations and experiences speak louder than printed material.

The setting is gorgeous and very tranquil, and the bed is the best we’ve had in Romania; it’s a bit remote, but that’s what gives it such peace.
