Antique‑style furniture, original artwork and ivy‑clad pink stone walls create historic charm. The facilities were beautiful and the price very good, yet the room‑service food was bad, expensive for what was served, and the quality of the food was low; I ordered eggs motileños and received only one egg with a lot of chilaquiles that didn’t belong, the bread was dry and low‑quality white Bimbo, and both nights there was a persistent alarm chirp in the hallway that kept me awake and was never fixed even after notifying staff.

The room renovation looks great and cleaner; the sheets are softer and not noisy like before, the pillows and beds are comfortable, and the restaurant food is richer with new touches for guests that weren’t there before, but the comforters are old and torn, covering the side mirrors in the bathrooms and reducing comfort and visibility for styling.

It’s a hotel with potential but feels very abandoned; the gym is fine but the air conditioning doesn’t work, the reception staff are friendly and try to help like the concierge, yet the room was very dirty with a carpet and food crumbs under a small table, the bathroom and toilet doors were broken, the window glass was extremely dirty, pool service was nonexistent—you have to chase staff for attention and for billing, the pool floor was covered in algae and you need to be careful, the photos are very misleading—looks like a nice pool but there’s no sun in the area and the water is cold, it’s very expensive for the poor service, and the place is old and dirty.

I’ve been to this hotel before, twenty years ago, and I had to come all the way from Japan just to stay again because it’s still fantastic. The only downside was that the amenities weren’t very good.
