Iona and her family were charming, making you feel at home with their kindness, warmth, and generosity; the room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and it was cozy.

Almost everything was great! The owners were super nice and friendly, we got to try and photograph traditional customs, the breakfast was very varied with traditional foods, the rooms were comfortable, warm, and very clean, and the location was very convenient in the cute village of Vadu Izei, just outside Sighetu. The only two small issues were that the shower was a bit small, water would go out, and there was no hair dryer, which would have been handy. Other than that all was perfect.

The stay was wonderful. I forgot the host’s name, but she was exceptionally accommodating when we arrived. She didn’t speak English, yet she used Google Translate fluently, which made communication easy. The room was exceptionally clean and spotless. It’s quiet off the road with a country farm atmosphere. There isn’t much to eat locally, so we chose her all‑inclusive meal package for dinner and breakfast. The mid‑range price was 200 RON for two people for breakfast and dinner. The best part was the dinner, served family‑style with homemade, farm‑to‑table food—real local cooking that was awesome. I would stay again, with some caveats. I don’t want to bad‑rap this place, but first, it was so clean that the odor of cleaning chemicals was strong enough that we had to leave the windows open to air it out, and after a couple of hours my wife still had breathing issues. There was no air conditioning or ceiling fan. It is a high elevation (I live at 2100 m) and the average temperatures probably don’t warrant AC, but a ceiling fan would improve things. We stayed during a heat wave; the windows were open yet we suffered. A simple ceiling fan to circulate air would have made a huge difference. With the windows open, mosquitoes were also a problem—these are things they can easily remedy.
