“Скоро это будет идеальное место для долгосрочного отдыха”
The Farm House is run by a family—apparently all relatives—with artist Peter as the main contact; they responded quickly and helped with everything. Around the Farm House there are many natural sounds: a stream, birds (including domestic roosters), and geckos. It’s pleasant to fall asleep under them and wake up with the sunrise. The house and porch are spacious. The Farm House area is cozy, but there isn’t much to do there—perhaps they’ll improve the grounds soon. Spoiler: all the shortcomings are easily fixable, and the Farm House could become an ideal detox spot. We stayed for half of the 28 days because it was hard to stay in Fukui and live at the Farm House. There’s nothing within walking distance of the Farm House. Grab can cancel a taxi or food order because drivers refuse to go. I would recommend setting up a mini‑market inside the Farm House. We thought that wasn’t a problem, but it turned out that the nearest quality restaurants (not Vietnamese cuisine or at least well‑prepared Vietnamese food) are further south on the island. The nearest supermarket sold no bread, cheese, or sausage that could be used for breakfast, for example. Hot water was initially absent, but we didn’t notice because we were comfortable washing with cold water. Later, when we fell ill and couldn’t wash with cold water, we pointed out the lack of water to the hosts; they installed an additional compressor that solved the problem, but it was noisy. The house had insufficient dishes, so we didn’t ask and bought our own plates, cups, and knives. The house also, in my opinion, had no cloths at all. We didn’t use the shared kitchen because we realized first, we don’t want to buy and store food (the house had a small fridge for that purpose, and no one wanted to use the shared fridge), and second, we were quite particular. For example, I want to fry in a quality pan and cut with a sharp knife. Other guests at the Farm House used the kitchen. Overall, I got the impression that the Farm House hosts had not fully thought through what guests would need. The house was visited by many animals: a rat, a bat, a large gecko (lived under the bed for a couple of days), small geckos, a big cockroach, locusts, butterflies, beetles. The rat got into the house through a pipe opening under the sink—this opening was later filled with construction foam. The Wi‑Fi signal was lost in one half of the house (closer to the bathroom).
