We booked a six‑day stay but left a day early, even thinking of quitting after three days even though we’d lose the money for the remaining nights. The whole experience felt uncomfortable. The place really feels like the owner’s home, run by her routines and preferences, so we had almost no privacy or independence. The host was overbearing and intrusive, and we constantly felt watched. Little everyday things triggered messages telling us how to do them: windows, doors, putting cheese in the fridge, morning noise, etc. It wasn’t just the rules, but how they were delivered that annoyed us. The tone was often admonishing instead of a polite request to paying guests. We understand it’s private property and house rules are fine, but the way they were communicated mattered a lot. The frequent messages made us increasingly uneasy. By the end, every new message made us think, “What have we done wrong now?” It’s not a pleasant way to spend a holiday. Communication was also tough. Contrary to what the listing suggested, the host didn’t speak English. We were specifically told to stay quiet between 21:30 and 08:30 after apparently disturbing her with morning chatter. We apologized and respected that. Meanwhile, the area wasn’t always quiet; one evening there was loud music from somewhere nearby, probably the neighbouring campsite.
