I was disappointed from the moment I arrived at Pelican Residence. The bed was uncomfortable, the air conditioning wasn’t working, and the Wi‑Fi was almost nonexistent in my room. As a journalist, a reliable internet connection is essential, not a luxury, and the receptionist confirmed there was no internet at all. She suggested I stay the night hoping the issue would be fixed, but I didn’t trust that it would be resolved, so I left and booked elsewhere. This experience fell far short of what I expected.

This place is amazing—an oasis of peace in a quiet area close to everything you want to see in and around Banjul. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the staff made us feel at home. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return next time we visit Gambia.

The hotel was clean, had AC, and the restaurant offered nice meals. It felt safe with security at the front door. The reception lady calculated the cost incorrectly.
