The hotel was great; we got a large room with a balcony and an enormous bed. The room was clean and the housekeeping kept it that way throughout our stay. The staff arranged a cheap excursion for us, kept asking if we were happy and tried to accommodate us. The breakfasts were not a buffet and were monotonous.

The staff were nice. The tank for the turtle and fish was too small; the turtle needed a bigger space to rest and a companion, and the fish were too large for the little tank. The room was very loud.

The guesthouse is wonderful on a non‑tourist island. It is the capital of the atoll and Bikini Beach is not very big. The guesthouse sits in the centre of this small island, next to many little shops where you can buy cosmetics, sun‑cream, fruit, ice‑cream, coconut oil, canned tuna souvenirs and everything else. A small cosy courtyard full of flowers, under a canopy – tables where you’ll have breakfast, and if you order lunch or dinner they’ll serve it there too. Coffee, tea, constant water refill, no refusal at any time. Breakfast is standard, but you can choose European or Maldivian with roti flatbreads and shredded tuna. Rooms are on the second and third floors. In the corridor you exit onto large terraces where you can dry clothes and smoke. The rooms are fresh, non‑smoky, very convenient with air‑conditioners that don’t knock you out of bed and quietly cool the air. The rooms are very spacious, oddly free‑flowing. A long table‑shelf runs the whole room, very handy for everything from tea to medicines, ointments, swim masks, etc. A small wardrobe, comfy mattresses and pillows, sockets above the nightstands – all pleasures. Bikini Beach is a 12‑minute walk. On the way you can buy ice‑cream, before the pier café you can order a cocktail. By the way, it’s the only island where all streets are paved with tiles, clean and easy to walk on. But they didn’t pave the water and it’s better to have reef sandals for easy entry into the water. From our beach and the neighbouring public one you can take the most beautiful sunset photos. And at sunrise – on our street in the opposite direction to the sea, 15 minutes – there is a parrot, a pretty hair that goes into the water, from it good photos. Saeed and Musa will help you organise any excursions: to empty islands for interesting snorkeling, feeding sharks and rays, swimming with them, and fishing – we had a great outing, enjoyed our catch in the evening. Prices are reasonable for excursions. I didn’t like that the holiday was short.

I don’t know what the rating depends on, but it seems to be about the price. The rooms are worn out and clearly need a refresh. The bathroom had a very unpleasant sewer smell. The shower water barely dripped. It was the weakest place in the Maldives.

“I will defo be back”

It’s a long review but it has useful info and tips. The island is great. It’s small but it has the main services because it’s the capital of the surrounding islands. It has a hospital, pharmacy, dentist, ATM and there are different shops and a few restaurants. You can swim in bikini at the tourist beach and you can swim/snorkel at any other spot of the island, always covered with some shorts & T‑shirt. Very nice reefs around the island, but ask a local what part is safer, especially if it’s windy. Moosa is your man! Turtles and sharks can be seen without taking a boat elsewhere. It’s a very safe island. I am a woman who travelled alone and felt like home all the time, day and night. Everyone is very kind and is always trying to help. About Oceanvine, I have only nice words. Since their warm welcome until the last detail of the staff. Saeed is the head and makes sure everything runs smoothly. He showed me the island when I first arrived and is available 24/7. Moosa is the master of the excursions and will find the way to make your dream come true. And may also climb a tree to give you fresh apples. Raju, Naeem and Saju (the chef) take care of you and the hotel all day long. Saju, your food is better than the local restaurants! Congratulations. A tip for the guests, ask him to cook local food, like “Mas huni” for breakfast. Just delicious! The hotel is not located in front of the beach, but it’s just a few steps from it. Perfect for families, couples and people travelling alone. If you need to work, the internet is fast enough to do it. Big and clean rooms & good breakfast. Better than other local hotels. I spent one week and it was not boring at all. There is always something you can do or an excursion to join. Note: Mahibadhoo is a local island, not a resort. Do not expect luxury. Instead, you will get to be with the Maldivians, which is far more interesting. I don’t like that I have to go back.
