“Not a bad spot but very isolated out of season”

The bed is large, the bath is good, there are plenty of towels and they’re warm. First, the company suffered a data breach and I was spam‑WhatsApped by scammers for two weeks before our stay, demanding I confirm payment or lose the room – luckily I’m pretty savvy. Second, arriving in Port Renfrew in early October, there’s basically nothing to do except enjoy the beaches and trails. The one pub was awesome, very close and walkable, but it closed at 8 pm, and the other restaurant (a long walk back in the dark) closed at 7 pm. Although there was a very basic kitchen, the local store sells very little food to prepare, so I tried both eateries. There was one breakfast place too. The room was clean and practical but not overly luxurious for the price. Every time someone moved above us or flushed a toilet you could hear it clearly, but that’s common in many hotels. The lack of people around and the electronic keypads you’re sent to lock the coffee for make it feel a bit soulless in a very isolated spot.

The bathroom was good, but the room was too small and uncomfortable with a view of the parking lot; there was no service, no housekeeping, and no trash removal.
