“Visit my dear friend living in Ghent”

Location – easy access to everywhere. I never used public transport during my stay and was very satisfied. Flexible check‑in – my arrival was expected to be delayed because of flight arrangements, but they were flexible in accommodating this. Breakfast – they provide breakfast only on weekends with an additional fee, although I didn’t order it. Also there’s no breakfast service on weekdays, so guests have to manage it themselves. No fridge – related to breakfast, I’d like to suggest that it would be better to install fridges in the guest rooms.

The Fred & breakfast spot was perfectly positioned for exploring Gent, offering a lovely river view and spacious, tidy rooms; the bed was very comfortable, everything smelled fresh and newly washed, and Merel was supportive throughout, helping with any needs and making check‑in and check‑out hassle‑free; nearby, there was a garage where we could safely leave our car. We, however, were completely bitten by mosquitoes, likely because of the riverside location, but Merel was quick to provide a vacuum and insecticide to help; we also missed a large mirror in the room.

The location was good, but the steep staircase and lack of breakfast were drawbacks.

The staff were friendly, the price‑to‑quality ratio was nice, and the option to have hot tea and water was great, though the check‑in and check‑out times could use attention for future guests.
