The staff were very enthusiastic and friendly, and the service was excellent; the hotel is a ten‑minute walk from the train station and practically next to the canal. The bathroom was poorly ventilated, damp, and had a musty odor, which was masked by a strong leather‑wood perfume, while the corridor often carried a candle scent. It was quiet at night, but the lack of soundproofing meant I was easily woken by noise in the evening and early morning, feeling as if I were staying in a shared dorm with roommates and a bathroom.

The mattresses were extremely hard—sleeping was impossible. We only received extra blankets on request, which didn’t solve the issue, so the next day we bought sheets at a mattress shop across the street for 300,00 Euro that fixed the problem. The room was very small, the bathroom had no storage, and some tiles were damaged. Breakfast was a joke: not a buffet, but a single dish that had to be ordered the day before, either sweet or spicy, and the TV offered no German‑language channels.

The location was great and the savory breakfast each morning was simply outstanding. The mattress was a little too soft, and I couldn’t use the bathroom’s shower properly, but nothing dramatic.
