“Location and views make everything worth it. Has everything you need and it was a good stay, just don’t expect luxury.”
The place is unbeatable for its proximity to the Serrano entrance of Torres Del Paine – we used it to visit Lago Grey and Lake Pehoe/Salta Grande, while the other sites were on the far side and we skipped them. It had all the cooking supplies, blankets, and toilet paper we needed. The staff were helpful, checking us in quickly and pointing us to a mechanic for the flat tire we got on the long, pothole‑laden drive into Rio Serrano. The host clearly warned us to bring all the food we’d need, since there are no markets or stores nearby. The beds were covered with plenty of warm blankets. The hot water was very limited for showers, and power outages happened several times, cutting off Wi‑Fi for researching hikes. One couch was noticeably more comfortable than the other. On the porch, there were two deck chairs, but once my husband’s chair leg slipped between the slats and he tipped over. Despite the high price, the location was worth it, and having our own kitchen helped cut costs. Be prepared for a long, slow, bumpy drive to get there, and note that the sign for the parking spot is old, faded, and hard to read – we ended up elsewhere and had to ask for directions.
