The room was bigger than I expected and the bed was very comfortable. It’s close enough to the train station for an easy walk. I was a bit let down by the breakfast: the hot dishes were lukewarm, the orange juice was tepid, and the fruit tasted bland with little variety. The pastries, however, were tasty, and I appreciated the decaf coffee. I’m comparing this to other 4‑star hotels’ breakfast options.

The location was good, but the receptionist lied each time we left the hotel because our room cards kept failing; she blamed us keeping the cards near our phones, yet on check‑out she admitted an IT issue had been known for days; we were woken by hammering at 7:30 both mornings, the breakfast was barely warm, and the bed was very hard.

The room was clean and the staff friendly, but outside noise was relentless—windows were either single‑glazed or of poor quality, so the clatter kept us awake all night and left a neck ache; the bed was firm as expected; at £200 a night it didn’t feel worth it, and I wouldn’t give it a higher rating than a Premier Inn.

Check in very straight forward staff were very friendly and helpful Afternoon platter was delicious and room was adequate. Requested on two occasions for new batteries in TV remote still not done If you would like to order from breakfast menu extra charges apply and no longer receive morning tea in teapot you have to fill up from hot jugs The little luxuries that made the Vermont special seem to have disappeared
