“Overall a good experience.”

The old building is beautiful. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Facilities and extras like fresh milk in the fridge are very good. The location is ideal for festivals. The decor and bathroom fittings are nice but need some finishing touches. Climbing to the top floor is a bit grueling and it can get very hot there in summer. Street cleaners and refuse removal noise disturbed sleep from very early morning, even though we had the window open.

“Great Location”

I stayed in Room 2 at the top of the Promenade, which is a great spot and offers good value. The kitchenette had tea bags, coffee, and semi‑skimmed milk, which was handy. However, the entry code for the front door and the bedroom locks were hard to use and stressful. Getting into the shower was a nightmare because the sliding doors didn’t open wide enough and the tap was a mixer, not thermostatic, so it was tough to find the right temperature. The room wasn’t cleaned daily either.

“Great location, good value for money”

The place is in a great spot, clean, tidy, and quiet. The property itself is fine, but it would be nice if the automated texts and emails included door number 81.

The staff were friendly and helpful before and during our stay, and the location was perfect for the festival. We had a big bedroom with a balcony where the four of us could gather.

“Avoid Room 10 - Family Room. Not fit for purpose, dark and filthy.”

The location was spot‑on and the building itself is beautiful, with the front of the hotel in a lovely part of Cheltenham town centre. Unfortunately, the room was unclean: vape smell from a previous guest on the floor by the bed, a dirty kitchenette with kettle, toaster, and microwave all on one extension lead, dustpan and brush hanging over the worktop with debris falling onto the unit. The bathroom was tiny; a larger person would struggle to fit through the shower door and a parent couldn’t wash a child without getting in the shower with them. Thick black mould covered the entire shower, cobwebs and a damp smell permeated the space, and the ceiling was full of water‑damaged stains. Located in the basement, there was no fresh air because the window couldn’t be opened for security reasons. The Family Room only had one window, giving a horrible view of a busy road, with bags of rubbish underneath and a constant risk of attracting vermin.
