“Hotel is poor cost, should not be more than 500 per night, we paid 3000 per night, no value of money”

We arrived with low expectations after reading many negative reviews. The location is great, and the price is normal: 71 euros for a double room for 4 nights. The first room we were given was very small and the water didn’t work. However, I was surprised by the two guys at reception—they quickly gave us a new room even though it was late. The second room was a bit more spacious and the shower worked (the first hot shower after a month’s trip to India!). The bed was somewhat dirty, so we asked for a change, and it happened. We were also told that the next day we would be shown several rooms and could choose the one we preferred, which was a nice gesture! In the end, we settled for this room, despite some mold on the wall, a noticeable damp and mold smell, and an air conditioner that was set in an odd way pointing straight at the bed with no way to adjust it (after being in Mumbai I caught a cold). Amber Hotel is a constant we noticed during our trip to India: if there were a bit more care, nothing is too much to ask, just a little more consistent attention and everything would be much nicer, pleasant, and functional. But like almost everywhere, it feels like the staff don’t care. Overall, the staff’s availability and the location are positives, and the room we got is acceptable; I think the price should be lower. I recommend it if you don’t have high expectations or standards (like us).

A well‑located hotel a short distance from Colaba, not too far but still a bit away, was a solid choice.

Everyone, be careful when picking hotels in Mumbai, India. This place that calls itself a hotel is the worst spot I’ve ever been to. Terrible, terrible, and again terrible. It’s not a hotel, it’s a dump, not even a hostel, definitely not a one‑star establishment. Everything is old, smelly, and on the floor you can see people cooking, with loud conversations at any time of day or night, making it impossible to sleep due to street noise and interior clamor, and the Wi‑Fi doesn’t work. Avoid it entirely; all the negative reviews are spot on, everything… again, just awful… I wouldn’t return even for free.
