From the front of the cabin you can see the Gulf of Mexico straight away, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They even had a kayak for us, and the cabin itself was clean. The main road right behind the property was very busy and noisy, and there was construction going on as we arrived, so the view was blocked. We were hit by heavy rain before we got there and the mosquitoes were relentless. The power went out but was back on that night, though the air‑conditioning didn’t work. The food options were limited, the cabin was very basic, and we had to ask for towels because they were missing.

The accommodation was on the beach facing the sea, with a kayak, beach games, a pool, and a simple but adequate breakfast and restaurant menu. The turtle protection centre was right next door. The staff were always available and went the extra mile – thanks! The only downside was that it’s far from the town, and the restaurant closes at 18:30, which is a bit early.

We stayed here the night before heading to Palenque. The seaside cottage with a pool is highly recommended. You can also dine right in the cottage’s patio.
