“Booking.com needs to revise their policy for this kind of situation, meaning booking successfully but having no room lat”

I managed to book the room and got the confirmation email, but when I tried to check in I was told to cancel; after calling the front desk they claimed no rooms were left, so I had to scramble and book another hotel on short notice.
