The onsen was probably the best of all I’ve tried; my skin felt softer than ever, and after soaking I enjoyed a stroll through the charming town around the hotel, spotting the rivers that feed the springs. We just couldn’t stay longer.

Breakfast isn’t a buffet, but there’s a self‑serve station for rice and the like, so you can relax. The sulfuric hot spring is a bonus. Because the breakfast area gets crowded, solo guests might end up sharing a table; if you’re not into that, it’s best to go later. I’m the type who doesn’t mind, so it was fine.
